The Idea (2004)

Way back in 2004 Fernando Hernandes proposed an idea on the Newgrounds BBS. He said that he wanted to create a site that would compete with Newgrounds meaning he would make a portal, membership system, and custom forums. We started off with a simple layout and an invision free forum, the site was called Toon-Network. For about a year our community stayed steady, the portal was built (on a different site). I wanted to finally have my own website, and thought of something that would help Toon-Network out. I talked with Fernando and we came up with an idea to make a sort of Alpha site, so that the members could post about upcoming creations and people could comment on them. I didnt know a damn thing about creating websites then (and im still learning now).

Independance (2005)

At the end of 2005 Fernando annouced some news that he couldnt keep up with the site, and that he was going to have to shut it down. With my youthfull self I decided to turn Toon-Workshop into the site Fernando had visioned, so i set off learning HTML, PHP, and Javascript. I learned a crap load of HTML from books and looking at code from sites around the world.

HELP! (2005)

This time it was me who posted the topic on Newgrounds to create a site to compete with Newgrounds and had a few people interested. One of thier names was Craig McKeral, he was the same age as me but knew some PHP and helped me learn and build the first version of Toon-Workshop. Back then Toon-Workshop was a .com address (but the reason for that is coming later in the history. We were manually adding our media to the site then because we didnt know how to construct a portal but it was good for how young we were.

So.....Where Did My Site Go? (End Of 2005)

By the end of 2005 my domain name had expired, and somebody bought it the second it expired. So then I was stuck without a domain. For somewhere around a good two years Toon-Workshop was down for the count.

A New Beginning (2006)

On my 16th birthday (December) I decided to purchase Toon-Workshop again but this time I had to buy the .net domain due to the person who had fast hands. From there I started construction on the site. I made a few connections with people including Tom Drake, who is now a good friend of mine.

Well I Like It...But(2007)

We managed to finish up the site around this time. But there was something I didnt like about it. OH OFCOURSE IT WAS DESIGNED IN 2005!!! So now that the site was finally finished I decided to come up with another design for the site. I started on a new design and came up with something that was awesome. It was sortof vista inspired, but it still had the same feel of the older Toon Workshop design. At this point I was really happy with the design but then I had to come up with a handfull of original ideas ex our members panel, the muny system ect. This was the start of a great year for Toon Workshop.
